Imitation and Literature :: Literature Essays Literary Criticism

personation and Literature Imitation is a foundational concept in the creation and look at of literature. The fundamental assumptions embedded in imitation create a distinct and divisive method of perception. Imitation requires a basic belief in detachment appearance apart from reality, form apart from content. Literary works possess a dual existence, where the surface becomes most useful in its ability to wear the substance contained within. Because the justice remains concealed, it can only be discerned or discovered through imitation. Thus imitation exists as an intermediary in a variety of artistic representations, each aspiring for an accurate depiction of meaning, perhaps even the basic truths of human existence. For Plato, however, art imitates a world that is already far removed from authentic reality, Truth, an inherently flawed copy of an already imperfect world. Art as an imitation is irrelevant to what is real. Many critics since Plato have attempted to doctor the essential value of art by redefining or renegotiating the boundaries between imitation and authentic reality, between the text itself and meaning. From ancient to more modern critics, art is defined, vilified, or redeemed by its ability to imitate. Aristotle values imitation as a natural process of humanity. Tragedy is simply a manifestation of the human want to imitate. He asserts that every person learns his lesson through imitation and we observe that all men find pleasure in imitations (44). Unlike Platos world of Forms, knowledge of truth and goodness are rooted in the observable universe to Aristotle. Because imitation strives to create accurate particularized images of the real world, it is a source for potential stripping and delight. Neoclassical criticism accepts as givens Aristotles statements about the nature of art and reality. Art is valuable precisely because it is imitative. As Sir Philip Sydney states, Poesy is an art of imitation...with this end, to teach and d elight (137). Imitation not only entertains, entirely gains a example/ethical purpose to teach virtue. Artists must, in addition to possessing great creative skills, also bear moral responsibility for shaping their imitations. Samuel Johnson seems to revisit Platos attack upon art with his admission that an accurate imitation of morally questionable subject matter is not only unacceptable, but potentially harmful to those who encounter it. In order to accommodate a strong moral sense, Johnson describes imitation as a process of interpretation. The business of a poet... is to examine, not the individual, but the species.

e. e. cummings Poem of Simplicity in Life Essay examples -- Poetry Po

e. e. cummings Poem of Simplicity in LifeThis poem by e. e. cummings describes the affiliate between age and joy by relating the two with simplicity. With this simplicity, however, there is a break from reality, and there are consequences. We can only do what is natural for us.you shall above all things be glad and young by e. e. cummingsyou shall above all things be glad and young. For if youre young, whatever life you wearit will fix youand if you are gladwhatevers living will yourself becomeGirlboys may nothing much than boygirls needi can entirely her only lovewhose any(prenominal) mystery makes every mansflesh put space onand his mind take off timethat you should ever think, may god forbidand(in his mercy)your true fan sparefor that way knowledge lies, the foetal gravecalled progress, and negations absolutely undoom.Id rather learn from one bird how to singthan watch ten thousand stars how not to danceIn reading the first line, it sounds as though the focus of life is being glad and young. This is because of how the first part of the sentence is worded. The word shall is more of a command than a suggestion. It says something will be done, not that something may happen. Furthermore, its saying that you will do something. To say that someone else will do something lessens the consequence of the action. However, since you, the reader, are creating this action, you are obviously involved in the action more than if someone else was creating this action. So what is the author saying you will do? You will be glad and young before anything else. By saying that you will be glad and young before anything else puts an importance on these two actions because there is nothing, accordin... ...ons dead undoom is a part that his mind takes off time. Therefore, his mind forgets that refusal no longer has no punishment. This may not make a great deal of sense, nevertheless remember that the theme to this point has been finding happiness and simplicity. Perhaps, then, if refusal is saying no to the oblivion happiness brings, then he is again associated with the consequences of reality. This connects to the idea that god is mentioned as a reminder of reality and its consequences. What is the conclusion? What is the significance of learning versus teaching? You can only learn of happiness through experience, in other words, living. However, you cannot teach one how to seek happiness it is innate, meaning it is a natural part of you. It is natural for stars to dance and birds to sing, so how can you teach them otherwise? Seek happiness and you shall find it.

Ten Thousand Proud Elephants :: Personal Narrative Homosexuality Essays

Ten Thousand Proud Elephants I wore a dress to the gay pride parade this year. Its a grand parade, caper filled with hundreds of stories like this, and how people go there looking for voice and they scream so loud for it that they come denture voiceless. I wore my voice in the threads of a dress. Im not gay but these are the bravest, most respectable people Ive ever seen, and I wore a dress for hope that people feel safe to be people. The day began with a beer breakfast morning. My lover, Stephanie and I walked our dog, bleu (whom we think is secretly gay), and then came home to countless phone calls from friends planning to get together, all of them recognizing that the reason they were doing so was because they had dreamt the night in the first place that people in the world started to make plans to get together. Stephanie bestow me the dress and we started out the door hand in hand, man in drag, and the day rolled on like the curve of a rainbow. Walking through and through Chi cago was frightening, but the very thought gave even more purpose to the day so I walked a little prouder. Stephanie showed no fear and I look back at a very beautiful couple. We were met outside of jock-ville u.s.a., Wrigley field, by a bunch of cross dressing, wig wearing, loudly free with animosity like jack hammers for heartshomosexuals. We follow them to the beginning of the parade. One of the first things you see at the parade is people drinking beer on the streets in mien of the cops who are there for protection. Another thing you might see is those same cops also drinking beer. Soon nudity, free-wielding like breasts and butts were newspapersStreet Wise and fancy free, is fleshed before you, and every once in a while a flash of seriousness that is lying under the covers of freedom for fun like a eubstance awake at night, rears its fancy face. An organization called PFLAG (parents of gays and lesbians) gathered to march, holding signs proclaiming that they are proud of my gay son and I love my lesbian daughter. I started crying. Following this crowd a group of Chicagos gay cops walked by, and that just about sold the crowed a kleenex for every wave of those brave peoples hand.

Media :: essays research papers fc

Media Awareness The case that I decided to focus on is an older abuse case, but it has recently been resolved in the courts. It is a child abuse case involving James and Bonnie Zeleski. They were both charged with abusing their infant daughter. The child was brought to the hospital with a fracture in severally leg, a fracture in each arm, a thigh fracture, three broken ribs, a ripped esophagus, pneumonia, malnourished and several other cuts and bruises. The girl was transferred to an Omaha hospital. The father, James, was charged on June 3, 1998 with Class 4 Felony Child Abuse. His wife, Bonnie, was later charged and convicted of a Class 3 Felony. James was sentenced to three years probation and six months in jail. His wife was sentenced to 15 to 18 months in prison. I think that this case was fairly portrayed by the media. I know at the time, there were several letters to the editor and opinion printed on the subject, but the Grand Island Independent seemed to be fair and stick to the facts. It was a horrible crime and I think they did a proper job being unbiased. I think that it is a keen idea to worldize crimes like this. From my other studies, I have learned that the informal sanctions, public humiliation and shame, are far more effective than the formal sanctions in preventing crime. When people who are having a hard time dealing with being a parent see something like this in the media, they may stop to think about their actions. A good idea would be to run several articles on where parents can go to for help. The combination of the two, may help prevent this from happening to another child. As a mother I have a decisive interest in this crime. I cannot even begin to understand how anyone could do something like that to someone so helpless. I am also interested in this case from the legal perspective and how the case was resolved in the court system. I personally think that the sentencing was very lenient. I think this is a good activity. I studied j ournalism for a while and I am very aware of how the media can distort a situation.

In The Park Analysis Essay -- Gwen Harwood, poem analysis, poetry

In the park write by Gwen Harwood, was originally written under a male pseudonym. The verse represents the desire of changing identity because of certain circumstances as well as challenging common ideas, paradigms and values & beliefs which is commonly held amongst mothers in todays bon ton. Harwood wrote the poem with relatively simple composition techniques but it provides a rather big impact which helps to give an insight into the life of a mother or nurturer which bares the burdens of children. The style of the poem In The Park immediately gives us an image of the geographical landscape in which the poem is set in and from further analysis, the poem is written in a sonnet structure where its 14 lines broken up into two parts of 8 lines and 6 lines with a break in between. though we normally associate sonnets with romantic love poems, it is a different scenario with this poem as it is slightly ironic because challenges us by attempting to show the negative effect of love whe re the womans life has been destroyed basically due to the children and how love is no longer present in her life. The woman of the poem has no specific identity and this helps us even further see the situation in which the woman is experiencing, the lost of ones identity. Questions start to be raise and we wonder if Harwood uses this character to portray her views of every woman which goes into the stage of motherhood, where much sacrifice is needed one being the identity that was present in society prior to children. The first 4 lines it is indeed set the in park and Harwood has cleverly chosen the park as the setting of the poem as umteen people see the park as a mundane, boring place. Our assumptions of the park as a scene is normally ... ...-lover is in control, the woman is in a total opposite situation and the conversation has reached its limit and the ex-lover is cued to leave in a subtle but quick manner with a departing smile. With the terminal lines give us a better unde rstanding of her situation, where her life has been devoured by the children. As she is nursing the youngest child, that sits staring at her feet, she murmurs into the wind the words They have eaten me alive. A hyperbolic statement symbolizing the entrapment she is experiencing in the depressing world of motherhood. These final words sum up her feeling of helplessness and emptiness. Her identity is destroyed in a way due to having children. We assume change is always positive and for the greater good but Harwoods poem challenges that embedding change is negative as the woman has gained something but lost so much in return.

Physics And Engineering In I.T. Power Management Essay

The cost of get-up-and-go continues to increase with shrinking in corporate budgets and learn for more energy input. At generation uniform this, even IT industry is affected and the stakeholders be starting to look for new ways of cutting down the cost as they keep the caliber of work high and efficiency maximized. Implementation of a good energy policy in an organizations premises stinker lead to reduced costs of ICT infrastructural costs in terms of capital required in setting up servers and cooling system systems. If the right energy saving and proper workout habits atomic number 18 adopted and effective construction and installation ideas implemented in natural air flow optimization and proper heat insulation can lead to less cooling facilities requirements, cutting on costs (Greenguard, 2009). Efforts of energy conservation in IT infrastructure have been initiated through Technologies like PoE (Power over internet) and midspans this is a technology that enables gadget s like phones to receive force together with data through the Ethernet connection.Midspans are stand alone gadgets that are used to user interface the Ethernet switch with the power sources for optimized power distribution to the ports as required. Implementation of Smart energy and lighting technology in huge company premises with some(prenominal) workers using ICT equipments. Efforts of IEEE-the make up of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, to set standards for manufacturers of electronic and electrical gadgets (IEEE 802. 3-at) to ensure optimized energy utilization at the design level. IT technology in energy auditing and virtualization of power management give of Integrated circuits (ICs) to cut back magnetic and pulse width modulators for external power connection in devices. Use of Power Source Equipment (PSE) and Power Devices (PD) in earnings classification during powering of new connections to ensure only PoE connections are powered in wireless and telecom dev ices. Electrical Power With the introduction of Power over Ethernet (PoE), many electronic devices that work in direct connection with computers through Ethernet cables have shifted from use of external power cables to reception of power together with data on the Ethernet connection. The (IEEE) has established some standards (IEEE 802. 3-at) for such(prenominal) technology, contributing to encouraging the manufactures of electrical and electronic products to make in efforts of making ICT infrastructure environment friendly, through less energy consumption. This is a strategy which if adopted can lead to very improved efficiency in power delivery in devices interconnection. The manufacturers of such devices, for example Texas Instruments, are manufacturing devices with power capabilities of choosing either to use PoE or switch to standard mode when the option is not available. This is in the effort to become compliant with the IEEE 802. 3-at. Even when PoE is a better option than exte rnal cables, a more detailed power saving strategy can be applied through use of midspans, which interface the switches with power sources, injecting power to the ports using way much better technology and hence more efficient. Such consciousness is needed in order to contribute to the overall infrastructure. According to (Conner, 2008), for the manufacturers of the gadgets, the design of PoE can contribute to making of smaller boards and reduce the cost of inputs on large scale. The technology shift there in the physics of electronic gadgets is the replacement of impedance power reduction through dissipation with the magnetic and switching methods in pulse width modulators, controlled through ICs. In efforts to increase power efficiency, the cost of production is excessively bound to reduce in the long run. The application of PSEs and PDs in network in power control centers gives an option to do power budgets and determine the proper management strategies to be applied. These are s uch refined levels of control that give the way to streamline and generally control power use. With the current state of globalization in online business, the ICT infrastructure has grown to very complex networks, especially with emergent of mobile devices. Power systems for these networks are as huge as the extents of the networks while management is done manually at physical points of contact. The samples provided in the cases of Highmark and the University of Minnesota (Greenguard, 2009) form a small ploughshare of the global business ICT infrastructure that interact with the environment.Educating people/employees A huge effort should go to changing the habits of power use in a functional environment. The employees can too contribute to the efforts of a greener ICT infrastructure by ensuring proper use of power. Switching collide with devices when not in use can overhaul accumulate huge power savings with time. This is not a common thing in most IT departments and will take t he initiative of the management to organist fro prepare of the power users on good use of energy sources. When organization becomes too huge with thousands of employees, energy efficiency becomes a major issue. Such a high number of users of the infrastructure can accumulate a high energy demand and proper management for cost effective and sustainable operation. An example of such a firm is the Highmark with 11000 employees. Energy Computations and Software Virtualization Right from the Physics hardware, the availability of interfacing in ports control to enable remote power on and power off (Ronen, 2009) in PoE makes complex networks manageable. In the Highmark case the Company strategized on extra careful management method on using software technology like energy auditing tools and virtualization as well as new technology in smart energy and lighting systems (Greenguard, 2009). According to the report, there has been increase in need for organizations to use power consuming ICT inf rastructure with new technologies to do business as compared to the traditional methods. This has led to ratings of about 61 billion kilowatt-hours in 2006 by data centers (Greenguard, 2009).The figures could even increase with more ICT use, alarming the corporate to strategize on conservation and efficiency. Owing to this, there have been numerous instances of application of IT solution in power management. Highmark installed a system for collecting rain water and using it in a datacenter cooling system and virtualized the servers to monitor PC usage by employees. This strategy helped adopt the method of remote powering down of equipment not in use, to minimize wastage. The company consulted with IBM to do computations of server spacing for maximum utilization of cooling systems. It appears clearly that many organizations have massive equipments powered up even when not in use because of poor management policy. From these results, it is important to carry apiece of these computatio n and software analysis methods with weigh while considering efforts to manage such massive data infrastructures. In many cases, the companies rely on employees to be tried and true in implementing the energy conservation policies but even that cannot be enough. If software methods are used to monitor use of powered resources and power them down remotely, a great deal of energy could be saved. A perfect example here is the IT organization of the University of Minnesota which could switch off about 25,000 devices each nighttime (Greenguard, 2009). Conclusion The IT infrastructure comprises of billions of gadgets that use electrical power to operate and network equipment to keep them connected. Power consumption is therefore starts from a single devices design and connection to the system and spans to the networking level. The physical electronic power consumption can be managed and through standardization methods such as those by IEEE. It is at such low levels that interaction with t he environment can be analyzed and energy consumption optimized. The physical arrangement of power consuming data facilities is in addition of significance importance as clogging them closely together reduces the ability of natural air flow to take care of cooling done by electrical motors in fans. The relationship between IT and these physical sciences is so direct when it comes to practical application fields. The application of software power computation, management and control also helps ICT fit into the practical idea of conservation and greener infrastructure. From the cases analyzed, there is enough evidence that application of technology from the physics and engineering of devices and systems, software tools and ICT infrastructure can be managed in away that can lead to more environment friendly use.References Conner, M. Faulknerâۉ„¢s Short Stories Essay

A Rose for Emily and Barn Burning is both short stories created by William Faulkner. In both short stories, Faulkner used the obsolete southern backing as his denotations orientation of culture and societal norms. Emily from the story of A rose for Emily and Abner from the story of Barn Burning both culpable of terrible annoyances, terror and wildness yet Faulkner, with his creativity and unconventional talent in creating literature, sliceage to generate sympathy for both characters. The continuous used of the Old South as the main setting of his both short stories suggests that the characters predicaments have to do with the places history. Though Emily and Abner are both portrayed as cruel and violent, Faulkner employed sympathy through subtly demonstrating that they are just victims of society, history and culture. Emily and Abners revelation of their dark side hu cosmos temper was been arouse by their past experiences in the hands of cruel society.Emilys character was cr eated with authentic insights about a woman who can not meet change. Emily was a spinster who was representn as a lonely and impoverished woman who was so abandoned to the past, a woman that shuts herself off from the rest of the world simply because she cannot accept change. The story begins with Emilys death at the age of 74 and flashes back to the near distant past of Emilys life. She was a character who was so attached in the tradition of the past that she continually personifies until her death. Faulkner used the pronoun we which tells that the storyteller is some of the townspeople sympathizing Emily. It is a well structured and detailed events of Emilys life the provide give a deeper understanding why there is pride and isolation in her character. Emilys structured character brought her to an unlucky fate. The story tells how Emily copes and accepted the nature of sequence, change and chance.Emilys father who represents the ruling class of the South contri entirelyed most in the construction of her pride and arrogance. Emily was raised in an upper class fundament which make them prominent in the community. She perceived herself as rich and powerful which motivated her poise and bearing. Their position in the community had unconsciously taught her to hold herself lofty from the surrounding people even after her fathers death. As time passes by, perspective about class and status change.People accepted the changes of time and ideas. But Emily who was a complex and well developed character chose not to adapt. This made her a grotesque or unique personality in the setting that encouraged the townspeople to analyze her life.Faulkners sympathy towards Emily is perceived through the narrators tone and how he symbolically represents the rose in congeneric to Emilys life. The rose in the story represents affection. It is affection given by the narrator to Emily. Other people may perceive Emilys pride and violence as something immoral, but the narrators po int of view towards Emily is contrary. He clearly sympathize with Emily and understands the reason how Emily constructed such character. The narrator justified her through presenting serial of events about her past. She was a victim of bitterness and complete attachment. The community itself during her fathers time constructed her different reality that made her of what she became. I can overly suggest that the rose in the story represents Emilys love for Homer. It represents the soft side of Emily which the outside world can not see. She was perceived differently by the people as a scandalous and proud. But Emily like any other needs love and affection. Her love was violent and harsh though which represents the thorns of the rose. The narrator gave detailed events of Emilys history which suggests the gossip nature of the southern town where everyone knows every body else. In the beginning of the story, the author emphasized those women in town had a different perspective in attend ing Emilys funeral. Emily was respected by the men of the town but women were driven by curiosity. This suggests the domestic nature of women that time that seems more(prenominal) concern to the detailed events of Emilys life. Women wanted to appease their long curiosity. Most of the time ladies in town find Emilys scandalous and unusual. They find Emily a threat to the community. She was a symbol of the past.Other readers may perceive this horrifying when the people in town discovered the secret of Emily after her death. She has kept the body of her lover named Homer Baron locked in a separate bedroom after she killed him years before. But the body was not alone. The Northern man had been locked with an overcompensate since behind the indented pillow was a strand of iron-gray hair of Emily. The dead man had not died without love and attention. It was a horrifying in a government agency that Homers death was not given a social justice. But it was sad for Emily who wanted to give love and be loved but the circumstances and public opinion will no permit her so.The morality of Miss Emily Grierson was not justified in the end of the story. The consequences of her isolation and pride made the townspeople pity her all the more. withal, her solitude made her missed significant chances of her happiness. Though destiny and fate is a choice but we must view the factors that influenced Emilys choices. The narrator was so clever on how he presented Emily not as an antagonist but a woman that has to be sympathized which made me see her as a victim.Abner on the other hand on the Barn Burning story is a barn burner and who have a 10year old son named Sarty who always wish to death that his father will stop his horrifying and unjust activity. Abner finds perverse sense of joy in setting a rout out on someone else barn without reconsidering that farmers hold their livestock and harvested crops on barns which provide food and money for the farmers and their families in or der to survive. Moreover, Abner also neer reconsidered that his activity and crime may affect his sons sense of morality at his very early age since his activities of barn tan is no secret in the family.Faulkner generates a sense of sympathy to Abners character when he narrated Abners past involvement during Civil War. Sample data, a subset of population data, is the partial collection and review of all data that is to be queried. The relationship of these two data types is simple sample data is stand for as a reflection of the population data and shares a common goal in this comparison through statistics. This can also either be represented as a part or as a whole of all data being evaluated. However we tend to utilize sample data more often than population data primarily as a result that sample data is utilized to formulate a coherent burn up to drawing meaningful conclusions about the population. We utilize this through random sampling of population data to gather and make an assumption based on the population. This can kind of draw the conclusion that sample data and population data go hand in hand. As an example if we utilize Culture Matters A Survey Study of Social Q&A Behavior an article which conducted, in 2009, a social survey of questions and causes based on cultural behaviors, we can comply to find relatable data that can be identified through the understanding of sample and population data.An overview of this article notes that sample data was collected from four countries and sour overs responses from 933 people, of the population, who held similar job roles and were employed by a singular organization. This was completed to ascertain an understanding of what motivated an psyches response to ask and answer questions while accessing a social network site.In this response the United States and the United Kingdom provided data which showed that western countries tend to associate themselves more with an individualistic go on and showed a lower context pattern, while China and India, Asian Cultures, tend to better associate themselves more with a high context pattern, and holistic collectivism. This data shows that the method of random sampling was utilized to ascertain a meaningful understanding of the sample data to formulate an assumption about the population of ones gloss within these ountries and the role behind this decision making. As a result we can see that sample data which resulted in 38% UK workers, 41% US, 45% CN, and 50% IN was collected from the resulting population of a 100% of workers from all ethnicity working under a singular work group. This leaves to question the background ethnicity of those individual who did not participate in this survey. In result these statistics were utilized to draw a meaningful conclusion about this data both as a whole and as a sample.

This means that exhibitions have a higher return/expense ratio, something which every business always strive to achieve. The higher return/expense ratio is as a result of the adjacent reasonsMany customers or attendees who come to the exhibitions always arrive with a particular agendum or a need which they try out to accomplish at the exhibition. This means that the customers who arrive at the exhibition will not cause the business to incur more expenses in attracting the customers except for what has already been incurred to prepare for the exhibition. In the exhibitions, the business investors do not require to make any sales calls to close the deals with the customers since most of the people who attend have their agenda already set. This means that the business will not incur any extra cost involved n making sales calls since the live presentations and the demonstrations of the companys products or service are enough to lead the customers to purchase the products or services of the company.Compared to product or services sales calls which are quite costly, the exhibition leads do not require a lot of expense to accomplish or close a deal. Field sales require sales calls to be made by the company but in the exhibitions on the demonstrations and live presentations are enough. This means that exhibitions are much cheaper in helping the business to achieve its main objective of maximizing profits and minimizing expense hence higher returns/expense ratio which is good for the business.Exhibition provides an avenue for the exchange of information between the exhibition attendees and the companies that are displaying their products or services at the exhibition. At the exhibition, the business investor has the opportunity to pass information to the customers about the products or services that the company is offering since the investor comes into face-to-face contact with the new and old customers. These customers will in turn act as a tool of advertising the products and services of the company to those other capability customers who never went to the exhibition. This can be done through free samples and the live presentations and demonstrations. Since there is face-to-face contact, the customers are able to provide an immediate feedback about the product or the service (Morley, & Lees, 2009).The company can use these feedbacks to improve on its products or services or simply to maintain the quality depending on the feedback they obtain. In addition, through the feedback the company is able to obtain at an exhibition, the company is able to understand the needs of the customers and in turn react immediately to those needs than the competitors in the same market (Huang, & Lund, 2009).Focusing on the needs of the customers is crucial to a business and also helps the business to overcome competition and hence immediate feedback through the interaction at the exhibition, helps the business to keep its focus on the actual needs of the customers. The exhibitions also helps in understanding the strengths and weakness of the competitors since the research results and feedback obtained during the exhibition, can help the business in knowing what areas of business it can improve on to fight off competition.Exhibition helps the business to understand how competitors react to the needs of customers and also to learn the various changes that are taking place within the industry of the business. Research and immediate customer feedback obtained by the company during the exhibition helps the company to ride out ahead of the competitors through product or services advancement and the use of new technology. The graph below illustrates the effectiveness of various channels of marketing in the exchange and gathering of information in any business environmentFrom the Figure 1 preceding(prenominal) , it can be noted that exhibitions and Personal sales share the same percentage in terms of exchange and gathering of information for the business when engaging customers and other potential business partners. This means that the business will not be able to achieve higher profits. On the other hand, in an exhibition, the business needs only to hire a stand where it will display its products and services. This is quite a convenience for the company since the company will not have to spend a lot of money while at the same time the impact of the exhibition will be greater than that experient with marketing such as advertisement. For those business investors who are not sure of the amount of return on investment they w ill achieve when first attendance an exhibition, this is a very convenient way o introduce products or services to the public at a cheaper cost (Solberg, 2013).FlexibilityEvery business seeks a way of undertaking its operations while at the same time having the opportunity to change whenever necessary and still achieve its main objective of higher profits. Exhibitions offer an opportunity to be flexible since the business investor has the ability and freedom to customize his/her exhibits for each exhibition that they have to attend. This means that the business investor has the opportunity to experiment on matters such as size and also has the opportunity to configure their exhibits to see and find out what works best for the schedule of exhibitions that the company has to attend in its quest to make profits and expand its markets.Cost effectivenessExhibitions are quite cost effective to any business specially through the hiring of the exhibition stand. It is also cost effective s ince exhibitions provide extra options whereby, the business investor is able to stretch the budget for the exhibition to include many other new options that the business investor may not have been able to afford. These may include issues such as dramatic lighting, brochure racks, furniture and even extra large formatted graphics among others which can be added to create a greater impact for the business exhibition at no extra cost hence making exhibitions a lot cheaper than marketing strategies such as advertisement (Raluca, & Cristina, 2008).The graph below helps to demonstrate the effectiveness of exhibition as a system of promoting the products or services of a company when compared to the other channels or strategies such as direct marketing, Print advertising, Public relations, and the internetFrom the Figure 2 above, Series 1 represents the Benefits of Products and Services when the various strategies are applied by a business in selling of its products and services. Identifying the suitable and targeted audience makes it easy for the business investor to sell their products and services to the targeted market since the products and services will have been made to suit that particular targeted audience. Therefore, based on the vario us specific objectives that a business investor has laid down for the business, he/she is able to make a decision on which exhibitions to attend that will bring maximum results for the business and at a cheaper cost (Thomas, 1995).ConclusionThere are many forms of business promotion that an investor or companies can apply to promote their products or service and achieve results.
